St John’s Community Support (SJCS)

Jesus made it part of his ministry to feed the hungry. He also gave them more than food for the body by, in love, giving of himself: ‘I am the bread of life’ (John 6:35).

SJCS, as a project of St John’s Church, seeks to similarly serve people in need in our community, and in so doing, to show God’s love.

SJCS provides free frozen meals to families/individuals in need during school holidays (on selected dates), as referred by local schools, churches, charities and other caring agencies. The service operates in St John’s Church parish and across Guildford and nearby villages as resources allow.

Families receive two meals for everyone in the household plus vegetables, desserts and fruit, delivered to the door.

Volunteer

Volunteers from St John’s and the local community administer, pack and deliver the meals. All volunteers are registered and inducted into the project and, on a meals’ distribution day, will undertake a shift of up to 3 hours. If you would like to volunteer to help, click here.

Local Suppliers

SJCS procures its foodstuffs and meals from a number of local businesses and is grateful for their ongoing and generous support.

Generous donors

SJCS is grateful for grants provided by charities, foundations and local churches, and for kind donations from individuals. These enable SJCS to support families in need. If you are interested in making a donation please contact us by clicking here.
